Trace Adkins Chrome 300 - Stanton Barrett Notes
Stanton Barrett Notes, Quotes: Nashville 300
‘Returning with confidence’
Returning to the site of his most consistently strong run this season, Stanton Barrett and the #60 OdoBan Taurus NASCAR Busch Series team head to the 1.33-mile Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway this week for Saturday’s Nashville 300.
Barrett was a contender at Nashville when the Busch Series visited the speedway in April, qualifying fifth and finishing sixth. The OdoBan Taurus was in a position to finish even better had caution flags fallen the right way. Still, the team proved its prowess at Nashville and could be headed towards a spectacular finish this week. Last season was Barrett’s initial race with his own team, and showed the tremendous promise the young driver has not only behind the wheel, but as a team leader as well. He joined forces with Roush Racing this year.
An award-winning stunt man in Hollywood - Barrett’s family is often referred to as the “Earnhardts of stunts” - he has been racing and working most of his adult life, his dream to be with a top NASCAR team. Hired by Jack Roush for this season, Barrett moved behind the wheel of the #60 OdoBan Ford, which won the national Busch championship last year with driver Greg Biffle. So far this season, the team has been strong and consistent.

The thoughts of OdoBan Ford driver Stanton Barrett heading into Nashville:
“Having run pretty well at Nashville the last time we were there does give us some momentum going into the race this week. You still have to treat it has if that performancemeans nothing because, in fact, those results mean nothing now. It’s not like they give you a bonus for having run well the first time that you can use this week.
“This is a new weekend, a new race and it’s going to take a lot of work to get the car as good as it was the last time we were at Nashville. We have some good notes for Nashville, obviously, because we did run so well there the last time. Those green and yellow OdoBan colors looked pretty good running at the front and we want to do that again.
“We’re pretty pumped up about getting back to Nashville, picking up where we left off and hopefully improving upon our performance. We’re not going in there with any more confidence than we have at any other track. You always have to be confident in
yourself and in your guys no matter where you go, and it’s still a new weekend and what you did last time doesn’t matter. But, it’s nice knowing that you can run well there.
“Some people say Nashville looks like Dover but that’s mostly because of the concrete surface. It doesn’t really drive like Dover, it doesn’t really drive like any other track. So, I guess it does level the playing field a bit in that regard, because experience at other tracks aren’t going to help you with this specific layout.
“We won’t have many Winston Cup guys again this weekend because of the Pocono race and that’s fine, but I don’t have any problem at all with them being there – or anywhere else the Busch Series runs. They could put more seats in there and fill it up. That whole area is crazy about stock car racing. The fans are great, and the track is a lot of fun. Nashville is a great place to go. The city is so alive, and it tends to rub off on you. There is a lot of energy there and we look forward to going to Nashville probably as much as Nashville looks forward to NASCAR. It’s definitely one of my favorite places to run.
“We’re looking for some great things from this OdoBan Taurus.”
