Trace Adkins Chrome 300 - Jason Schuler Notes
Havill-Spoerl Racing is headed to the Nashville SuperSpeeday this week to prepare for Saturday’s Trace Adkins Chrome 300 Busch Series race. Driver Jason Schuler is looking for a good run as a series of small problems have forced Jason and the Havill-Spoerl Racing Ford Taurus out of races this season. As this is the teams first year in the Busch Series, making the races and building the team is as important as race day results.
Bringing the car home is one of Jason’s strengths this season. After 12 races, he only has one accident related DNF, that occurred at the second race of the season at Rockingham. While some small problems have put the Havill-Spoerl Taurus out of some races early, Jason’s crew is able to concentrate on getting ready for the next race and building the team, instead fixing wrecked race cars. This week the team is busy preparing the car raced at Dover for the Nashville race.
“While we were in Charlotte last month for the Busch Series race we picked up our fifth chassis” Jason said of the team building effort. “We already had four cars, one superspeedway and three intermediate, but we needed another car for a spare. The team was going to start mounting a body on the chassis and getting it race ready, but for now we are just going to prep the chassis and hopefully hold off until the 2004 Taurus bodies are available” Jason explained.
Hopefully the spare chassis is not needed until the team starts preparing for next season. In the meantime Jason and his team will finish the car for Nashville, and get on the road again, looking for a good solid run.
