Riggs Rules at Nashville
Nashville Superspeedway is a favorite of Scott Riggs and it is easy to see why. Riggs, who won both the inaugural Craftsman Truck series and Busch Series races at the concrete Nashville track, claimed his third career win in “Music City,” taking home another Gibson guitar for his trophy case. Riggs dominated the Trace Adkins Chrome 300, leading 160 of the race’s 225 laps, winning his second Busch race at Nashville; it is the fourth victory of his career. Riggs survived a four-lap shootout to win by .53 seconds over David Green in second place. With the win, Riggs took the lead atop the Busch Series point standings, holding an 18-point advantage over Green. Rookie David Stremme crossed the finish line in third, followed by Randy LaJoie and Nashville native Bobby Hamilton Jr. in the top five.
Nashville Qualifying Canceled, Sauter Starts from Pole
The qualifying session for the Trace Adkins Chrome 300 was washed out by inclement weather. The filed for the Busch series event at the Nashville Superspeedway was set in accordance to the NASCAR rulebook, giving the pole position to Johnny Sauter. Sauter, who shares the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet with Kevin Harvick, gets the top starting spot based on car owner points. It will be the second pole of Sauter’s career. Busch series points leader Todd Bodine will start from the second position, while Scott Riggs and David Green start from row two.
