Pepsi 300 - Todd Bodine Notes
BODINE AND HERZOG JACKSON MOTORSPORTS READY TO TAKE ON NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 9, 2003) - Herzog Jackson Motorsports and Todd Bodine
are heading to Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway this weekend for the running
of the NASCAR Busch Series' Pepsi 300. Bodine will be driving the No. 92
on Saturday's event, but NASCAR veteran and fellow New Yorker Mike McLaughlin
will be sitting in for Bodine in the No.92 Herzog Jackson Motorsports Chevrolet
for Friday's qualifying and practice. Bodine, who also drives the No. 54
Army National Guard car in the Winston Cup Series, will be spending Friday
at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway where he will qualify and practice the No.
54 for Sunday's Virginia 500. He will fly to Nashville on Friday evening
to compete in the Pepsi 300 on Saturday afternoon.
Coming off a wild weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway where the No.
92 was involved in an 18-car wreck on the backstretch on lap nine, Bodine
and crew are looking forward to Nashville. After taking the Herzog Jackson
Motorsports Chevrolet to the garage for repairs, Bodine was able to return
to the race with 57 laps to go to earn valuable points, which helped him
maintain his lead in the 2003 Busch Series driver's points standings.
Bodine heads to Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway with three starts at the
track in the Busch Series, beginning in April of 2001 with the Superspeedway's
inaugural race. Of the three starts, Bodine has one top-ten finish, that
coming in the spring race in April of 2001. He gave Herzog Jackson Motorsports
its best finish ever at the 1.33-mile Superspeedway in June of 2002, finishing
11th after starting in the 37th position. Mike McLaughlin, a seasoned veteran
in the NASCAR Busch Series who finished fourth overall in 2002 in the Busch
Series points standings, also has three starts at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.
His best finish was in April of 2001, where he raced his way to the ninth
place position.
Herzog Jackson Motorsports has had a stellar season thus far, adding five
top-ten finishes, three top-five finishes and a victory at Darlington (S.C.)
Raceway to their list of accomplishments. Bodine currently sits atop the
2003 NASCAR Busch Series driver's points standings, while Herzog Jackson
Motorsports is first in the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series owner's points.
Live television coverage of the Pepsi 300 will begin at 3:30 pm EST on FX.
