New England 200 - Rookie Post-Race Quotes

JASON WHITE, NO. 0 EAGLE JET INTERNATIONAL CHEVROLET:

"We had a pretty good run today. I've got to thank Eagle Jet for backing us here this weekend. We blew a motor. We were running pretty well. I lost a lap early in the pits but came back and fought hard. I just lost the engine."

DAMON LUSK IN THE NO. 6 STA-RITE PUMPS DODGE WAS THE RAYBESTOS® ROOKIE OF THE RACE AT NEW HAMPSHIRE. LUSK TOOK TOP ROOKIE HONORS FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON.

"It was all right. We just start so bad. If we don't test we always get going about lap 40. It's like we have to make adjustments to get to the point where we need to be. Coming back here now we know everything where we need to be. It's just so frustrating. We had a good car about the middle of the race but someone's tailpipes flew off and ran through the car. The Sta-Rite car was all right. We just need to get better. I need to get better at things and we have to be able to communicate a lot better, driver-crew chief. We just have to be able to get on the same page a little more. We're getting it. Every week I keep telling you that and we keep improving every week. Once you have a good run and you run in the top-10 you want to stay there." YOU HAD A GOOD DAY AT A DIFFICULT TRACK. "I don't know where the other rookies finished but this is a tough little racetrack and if you don't hit it just right you're just way off. We just need to be better at the start of the race and we'll get it. It just takes time." DID YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE PASSING? "I was kind of holding on at first. We were just wicked tight. Once we were able to race with some guys we were able to pass some cars but it's not like Milwaukee. I thought it was going to be the same setup and all. It was probably my fault for wanting to go back with the same car and same set up. We'll get 'em next week."

JOEY CLANTON, NO. 27 TRIMSPA PONTIAC:

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM? "It was just a rookie mistake. I touched the wall, the exhaust was sticking out and it knocked it off. It was just hard luck for the TrimSpa Pontiac. We thought we had a good chance at a top-10 and just lost it out the window. We lost the exhaust pipes out the right side. I guess we were going to be mandated next year for that rule and we were just trying to get the cars used to it and kind of get that feel for it. The best way to keep then from falling off is not to hit the wall (smiles). WERE YOU HAPPY WITH THE CAR? "On a run, the car was great. I don't know if we were as fast as the leaders but we were pretty close. All day long I kept David (Green, race winner) in sight. We had a good car, just came up a little short."

LUSK RAYBESTOS® ROOKIE POST RACE PRESS CONFERENCE

"I was really kind of learning from some of these guys. I had to start 30th, way back there in the points. The first session we were really, really tight and we made lots of adjustments and got pretty good at the middle of the race. These guys (leaders) were setting a pretty good pace at the beginning and we got caught a lap down. We kind of stayed there and ran about 15th or 20th all day long. We got a lot of experience today and got to learn this racetrack. It's a tough little racetrack, hard to get around. I learned a lot today and I feel we'll be able to pick up on that and come here again next time."
