Target House 200 - Jason Leffler Notes
Jason Leffler will make his 40th NASCAR Busch Series start and fifth for the Haas CNC Racing team this weekend at North Carolina Speedway.
JASON LEFFLER ON RACING IN ROCKINGHAM…”Rockingham is a great track in that you have to have everything going right for you in order to be successful there. Now, I know that’s the case at all of the tracks we go to, but at some of these newer mile and a half tracks you can sometimes fake your way into a good finish. That’s just not the case at Rockingham. The surface is old and worn out and you have to take care of your tires – pretty much a losing battle – as soon as you leave pit road. Your set up has to be right on and we’ve got our work cut out for us. The Haas Automation Chevrolet has been pretty good in qualifying for the last couple of weeks, but we need to work on our race set up. The car seems to start off strong and then fall off a bit. Bill Ingle made some good pit strategy calls last week in Phoenix to get around that, but it probably won’t be that easy this week.
“Rockingham is one of those places where sometimes we go there and have a lot of long, green flag runs and sometimes it seems like we can’t go 10 laps without a caution. You just never know what’s going to happen. You need to get up front and stay there to make sure you don’t get involved in someone else’s problems. Somebody wrecks at Rockingham and you can be assured it’s going to be a hard hit and there won’t be very many options to get around it. It’s a tough track, but I think you’d have a hard time finding anyone who doesn’t like to race there.”
