Rockingham 200 - Stacy Compton Notes

STACY COMPTON ROCKINGHAM PREVIEW

The Team: #59 Kingsford/Johnsonville Chevrolet

The Event: Rockingham 200
1 PM Saturday February 22, 2003
Rockingham, NC

The Track: 1.017 Mile Medium Banked Oval

TV/Radio: FX 2/22 @ 12:30 PM; MRN 2/22 @ 1 PM

Compton at Rockingham:
Best Start: 8th November 2002
Best Finish: 5th November 2002

Compton on Rockingham:
"The Rock is a tough place to get around. It grinds down you tires in a matter of a few laps and you have to really stay on top of the car the entire race. Before November of last year, I would have said that it was one of my worst tracks. But we proved we could run up front there last year and I broke through with a top 5 finish. I'm looking forward to running my first race there with the new Monte Carlo body style."

Compton Comments:
"We had a strong car last week and cut a tire. Now we've got to run strong every week to dig ourselves out of the points hole that we left Daytona with. This new Monte Carlo body style is definitely going to even the playing field for us and I'm looking to better my 5th place finish at Rockingham last fall."

Crew Chief Comments:
"We've worked hard all winter on the new Monte Carlo's. Now it's time to see how well we did in developing the new cars."
