Goulds Pumps ITT Industries 200 - Scott Wimmer Notes
Scott Wimmer Event Preview
Wimmer on Nazareth: Scott Wimmer, driver of the No. 23 Stacker 2/Stamina RX Chevrolet, looks forward to the challenge that Nazareth Speedway presents.
"Nazareth is one of the most unique tracks we race at because it incorporates a lot of different elements," said Wimmer. "There are really five turns there and each one is different. It is very hard to get your car to do everything it needs to do to run perfectly there. There is not one car that will have perfect handling at the track this weekend, because you have to give something up to gain in another area. There are certain spots on the track where you actually go uphill, so it has some characteristics of a road course, even though we don't shift there."
"To do well at Nazareth, you really need to have great communication with your crew to get the most out of your car" said Wimmer. "You will constantly adjust to make the car better. Nazareth is a handling track, so getting through the turns good is crucial. Nazareth is also a very narrow track, so staying out of trouble is also key. Because of the narrowness, it is very hard to miss the wrecks that happen there, so being careful and having good luck plays a factor in the outcome."
A Third Through The Season: Wimmer is excited about the momentum his Stacker 2/Stamina RX team is building at the end of the first third of the season.
"I was very happy with our top-10 finish at Gateway," said Wimmer. "This team has been building momentum over the past three weeks. We are keeping our cars in one piece and have posted a top-five and a top-10 finish the past two weeks. We are making grounds in the points battle and are inching closer to the top-10 and the leaders. I'm really happy with the way things are going and the next couple of weeks we are competing at some racetracks that we run well at. It is so great getting our season turned around."
Equipment: The Stacker 2/Stamina RX Racing team is taking a brand new car to Nazareth this weekend.
Upcoming Events: Wimmer will run his No. 27 Winston Cup entry for Bill Davis Racing at the upcoming spring Dover event in addition to his full-time Busch program. The sponsor will be announced a later date, however, to prepare for the event, Wimmer will test at Dover International Speedway on Monday and Tuesday immediately following the Busch race at Nazareth.
