Goulds Pumps ITT Industries 200 - Raybestos® Rookie Notes
· David Stremme was the Raybestos® Rookie of the Race in the Charter
Pipeline 250 at Gateway International Raceway. Stremme finished 14th and
took top rookie honors for the second consecutive Busch Series race and third
time in the past four events. He joins Coy Gibbs as the only first year
driver to take top rookie honors in consecutive events.
· Chad Blount leads the Raybestos® Rookie standings by four points
(123-119) over Gibbs entering the Goulds Pumps 200 at Nazareth Speedway. He
is the only Raybestos® Rookie to score a top-five finish this season, a fifth
place effort in the O'Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
· Blount and Gibbs each have two top-10 finishes, more than any other
Raybestos® Rookie.
· Raybestos® Rookie Joey Clanton had a good day at Gateway International
Raceway, coming away with a solid 19th place finish. Clanton had a good run
in his first career Busch Series start at Richmond, grabbing a 22nd place
finish.
· Blount led the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway once for 56 laps
(74.48 miles) and is the only Raybestos® Rookie driver to lead at least one
lap this season.
· DID YOU KNOW? There has been a different driver leading the Raybestos®
Rookie standings in five of the last six races, dating back to the O'Reilly
300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
· Gibbs is 18th in Busch Series points, best of any Raybestos® Rookie. He
is just one point behind 17th place Kevin Grubb and 15 behind 16th place
Stacy Compton.
· Blount also owns the best qualifying run by a Raybestos® Rookie this
season, a seventh place effort at California Speedway.
· 2002 Raybestos® Rookie of the Year Scott Riggs was the top rookie in last
year's Nazareth 200. He finished second, 1.735 seconds behind race winner
and teammate Jason Keller. Riggs led the race once for three laps and was
the highest qualifying rookie, taking the fourth starting position. He was
the only first year driver to lead a lap in the race.
· Johnny Sauter had a good run at Nazareth. He finished 11th on the lead
lap after starting 18th. Sauter and Riggs were the only two Raybestos®
Rookies to finish on the lead lap.
