Sam's Town 250 - David Green Notes
David Green Memphis Preview
Track / Size: Memphis Motorsports Park (.75 M) Date: October 18, 2003
Memphis Associate Sponsor ... Tobacco Super Stores will be the primary associate sponsor on the Timber Wolf Pontiac at Memphis. Tobacco Super Stores has 83 retail outlets in Western Tennessee and Arkansas.
Last Race – Charlotte – Lowe’s Motor Speedway ... David Green started 7th and finished 6th in the rain-delayed Little Trees 300 at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway last Saturday. The race was scheduled to be the first night race for the Busch Series at Lowe’s, but rain postponed the event until Saturday morning. Green ran in the top ten all afternoon and led the race twice for a total of three laps. Green’s 6th-place finish enabled him to stretch his point lead to 36 over Brian Vickers who finished 4th and took second from Scott Riggs. Green holds a 47-point lead on Riggs, 76 over Ron Hornaday Jr., and 80 over 5th-place Jason Keller.
The car choice for Memphis ... David Green will drive the same Timber Wolf Pontiac that he drove at Richmond in September, starting 3rd and finishing 5th. This car was a brand new Hutch-chassis Pontiac when Green tested at Memphis for two days prior to the Richmond race
Show me the Money ... With his 6th-place finish at Charlotte last Saturday, David Green became the first Busch Series driver to surpass the one million dollar mark this season. Green has earned $1,000,455 this year and should easily break the race winnings mark of $1,275,410 earned by 2002 Busch Champ Greg Biffle.
David Green on the Sam’s Town 250 and the Memphis Motorsports Park ... “We had a good test at Memphis in September. We had a new car that we wanted to shake down before Richmond, where it had it’s first race. We’re really excited about getting back to Memphis. We did mostly race practice and the car was extremely comfortable and consistent in the long haul. We also got the chance to run on the track after they did some grinding, which turned out excellent. The track feels much smoother and more consistent than ever before. Team Brewco is felling good getting back to Memphis. The shop (Brewco Motorsports) is fairly close by, so Memphis is like a home town race for us.”
