Sam's Town 250 benefiting St. Jude - Memphis Motorsports Park
Bobby Hamilton Jr. passed leader Johnny Sauter with three laps to go and held on to win the Sam's Town 250 benefiting St. Jude at Memphis Motorsports Park. After dogging Sauter’s bumper for many laps, Hamilton pushed Sauter up the track and made the pass for the win on lap 197. The win is the third of the season for Hamilton and the fourth of his career. Jason Keller edged Sauter at the finish line to capture the second position, while Sauter settled for third. Ron Hornaday crossed the stripe in fourth, followed by Brian Vickers in fifth. Vickers, who led the most laps on the day, moved into the Busch series points lead. Vickers now has a 23-point lead over David Green with four races remaining.
Substitute Reutimann Wins Memphis Pole
David Reutimann might have won the pole position for the Sam's Town 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park but he will not even be in the race when the cars take the checkered flag on Saturday. Reutimann is substituting for Greg Biffle, who was qualifying his Winston Cup car in Martinsville, and will hand over the wheel to Biffle for the race. Reutimann turned in a qualifying lap in 22.544 seconds, at an average speed of 119.766 mph, to win his first career pole. Biffle will start from the rear of the field due to the driver change. Reutimann’s NEMCO teammate Kyle Busch will start from the outside of the front row, while Brain Vickers and Bobby Hamilton Jr. make out the second row.
