GNC Live Well 250 - Scott Wimmer Notes

Scott Wimmer Event Preview
No. 23 Stacker 2 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
The Milwaukee Mile - June 29, 2003

Wimmer on Milwaukee: Scott Wimmer, driver of the No. 23 Stacker 2 Chevrolet, considers Milwaukee his hometown track, as he hails from Wausau, Wisconsin, located approximately three hours from the speedway.

"Milwaukee is a very special place to me because it is the closest thing I have to a hometown track on the NASCAR circuit," said Wimmer. "Even though Wausau, Wisconsin is three hours away from Milwaukee, the fans in Milwaukee are great about supporting their home state drivers. I'll sign autographs at the souvenir rig this weekend and the turnout is always amazing to me. I'm really grateful to all the fans that come out and show their support. Besides being a great thing for our team, I'd really like to win there this weekend for all the fans because I know they are pulling for me!"

"Milwaukee is one of the tougher tracks on the Busch circuit," said Wimmer. "The corners are real big and sweeping, but you can't rely on horsepower to win the race. The key is having a great handling car that will get you through the corners fast."

"Setting up a car for Milwaukee is a challenge because the track is so flat that it is very hard to get the attitude of the car they way the driver wants it," said crew chief, Chris Rice. "Also, it is very hot when we race at Milwaukee so the tires wear away quickly and lose grip. However, I do like racing there because it is a track where you can pass, the best place being from the center of the corners off. He finished third last year, so we want to do everything possible to get Wimmer a win this weekend especially since it is his hometown track."

Equipment: The Stacker 2 Racing team is taking a brand new car to Milwaukee this weekend.

Team Notes: On Tuesday and Wednesday, June 24th and 25th, Wimmer and the No. 23 Stacker 2 team tested at Chicagoland Speedway. The team dropped him off in Wausau, Wisconsin so he could spend two days in his hometown before heading to Milwaukee.

Appearances: Wimmer will make appearances at the following locations during the Milwaukee race weekend:

· Thursday, June 26th, time TBD at the Larry Detjens Memorial Race at Stake Park Speedway in Wausau, WI.

· Saturday, June 28th following happy hour practice at W&H Souvenir trailer on speedway property.

· Sunday, June 29th from 9:00am - 9:30am at Stacker 2/YJ Stinger display trailer on speedway property.
