Cabela's 250 - Ford Post-Race Quotes
KASEY KAHNE - No. 38 Great Clips Taurus (Finished 2nd) - PRESS CONFERENCE - DID YOU THINK YOU COULD HAVE PASSED KEVIN IF THE RACE HAD CONTINUED? "Yeah, I definitely think we could have. He was saving fuel, I guess. That's what he said. Maybe he had a little more once we got to his bumper, but until we got there we were definitely catching him and maybe would have caught him in another lap or two. I think he would have kept saving fuel, so maybe we would have been able to pass him if the rain wouldn't have come so soon." HAS IT BEEN A WHILE SINCE YOU HAD A STOCK CAR THIS GOOD? "We had a good stock car all weekend. Our whole Great Clips team did a good job. We qualified first and ran second in the race. Our first run of the day we were real good at the start of the run and real good at the end of the run. Then we freed the car up just a little bit and that hurt us for the second run. But once the tires wore down a little bit, we got back to the high side and it was awesome again up there." WAS THIS THE BEST CASE SCENARIO FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU SAID YOU WERE 3 OR 4 LAPS SHORT OF MAKING THE DISTANCE? "This is probably the best-case scenario the way it turned out because we were short about four laps if it stayed green. If we went back to green now, we may have been able to coast around for three, four or five warm-up laps and made it to the end of the race. But then you never know who would have put on tires or who wouldn't, so it definitely would have been different. The way it worked out was perfect. The only way better would have been if it rained maybe a lap later." YOUR TEAM BOUNCED BACK TODAY. "Yeah, I mean we definitely had a good car. You could tell that by coming back through the field like we did. We got put back so far because of that pit stop and it killed us, but we fought back and still had a good day for the whole Great Clips team."
BOBBY HAMILTON, JR. - No. 25 Team Marines (Finished 3rd) - PRESS CONFERENCE -- WHAT DOES THIS DO FOR YOUR TEAM GOING TO YOUR HOME TRACK? "Anytime you get a top five, I mean the last couple of weeks we lost 100-and-something points, so we had to do something to get the team back and the driver back. That's why he made the decision he made. He might have paid for it at the end, but as soon as it started raining I glanced at the scoreboard and we were third. There were times in the race I was thinking, 'Man, I cannot believe we're as bad as we are,' and then all of a sudden you end up third today. So having Harold on our side, no matter what the situation is or how it's gonna end up that day, he usually pulls you through. We've always had momentum since he got here and we've always had the attitude that we can win races at any given time. No matter where we qualify at we can come to the front and we showed that today, so this was something just another step on the ladder to get us to the top. We'll just take this and build on it and go to Bristol and try to keep all the fenders on it." THE 8 CAR WAS THE LAST CAR TO GET TO INSPECTION. HOW FRUSTRATING WAS IT TO SEE THEM WORKING ON THE CAR BEFORE THEY GOT TO INSPECTION? "I didn't even know he was back there. I'm sure they had a good reason, evidently. I mean, they didn't get in trouble for it. Like I said, that shows you how much I pay attention. I probably walked right by their trailer and didn't even see it. I'm sure if it was something that was crazy or out of line, they'll take care of it. If not, I'm sure there was an official down there watching everything they do. Usually if the guys are late they have a reason and there are always a couple of officials making sure they don't do any major changes or something. As good as he was in practice the other day, he could have sat there for two hours later than he's supposed to and he's still gonna be good. You'll see him tomorrow. He'll wax butt tomorrow, too, so 20 minutes or however late he was it wasn't gonna hurt him at all. He deserved this race no matter how he got it. He was the class of the field all day long. If it was something crazy, NASCAR will take care of it. If not, I'm sure they had an excuse for it and nobody did anything wrong."
