Stewart Dominates, Harvick Wins in the Rain at Michigan
Although Tony Stewart dominated, Kevin Harvick and Mother Nature were the winners of the rained-shortened Cabela's 250 at Michigan International Speedway. Stewart had far and away the strongest car but gave the lead to Harvick when he made a green-flag pit stop on lap 101. Rain started falling some eight laps later and after a 40-minute red flag, the race was called. Stewart led the most laps on the day, as he stayed at the front of the field for 82 of the event’s 110 laps. For Harvick, the win is his third in the Busch series this season and the 11th of his career. Pole-sitter Kasey Kahne came home as the runner up, while Bobby Hamilton Jr. finished third. The Busch series points battle tightened even more as David Green crossed the stripe in fourth and Scott Riggs in fifth. Riggs now leads Green by a mere two points heading to Bristol.
Kahne on Busch Pole at MIS
Kasey Kahne will lead the field in the Cabela’s 250 at Michigan International Speedway to the green flag on Saturday. Kahne earned his first career Busch series pole position on Friday afternoon and set a new track record in the process. Kahne circled MIS in 38.608 seconds, at an average speed of 186.490 mph, to better Kevin Lepage’s previous track record. David Reutimann will join Kahne on the front row after qualifying on the outside pole. Winston Cup regulars will start from the next six positions, led by Casey Mears and Tony Stewart in row two.
