Sam’s Town 300 - Todd Bodine Notes

IMPRESSIVE STATS FOR BODINE HEADING TO LAS VEGAS

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Veteran NASCAR Busch Series driver Todd Bodine and the No. 92 Herzog Jackson Motorsports team will travel to Las Vegas this weekend for the running of the Sam's Town 200. Bodine hopes to add to his success at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a place where he was victorious in 2001.

Besides a Busch series victory in March of 2001, Bodine has posted impressive stats at the 1.5 mile super speedway. Having only run at the track on four previous occasions, he has scored two top tens and set a track record in the Winston Cup Series with a qualifying lap of 172.850 in 2002. He hopes to bring his experience and success at Las Vegas to the Herzog Jackson Motorsports team in 2003. The team, which has run at Las Vegas only three times in the past with drivers Jimmie Johnson and Andy Houston, placed as high as fourteenth in 2001, with Johnson leading the pack for thirteen laps.

"I have always looked forward to running at Vegas," says Bodine. "I feel confident heading into this weekend because my team has been performing great. They were awesome last weekend at Rockingham, and if we can continue to have fast stops and the car runs good, I think we can bring the Herzog Jackson Chevy to victory lane."

Pit performances have proved to be a key factor for the Herzog Jackson team, having made stops in Daytona and Rockingham that led to a sixth place and third place finish respectively. In fact, last weekend at Rockingham, pit stops were so successful for Bodine and team that he averaged a gain of at least three spots every time he pitted. "My crew came through when it really counted," stated Bodine. "The credit for our third place finish goes to them."

In keeping with their impressive pit stop strategy and Bodine's experience at the track, it’s a safe bet that the Herzog Jackson team, led by crew chief Tony Liberati, more commonly known as "Rambo", will have a successful weekend. The team heads to Las Vegas in second place in the Busch series, a mere twenty-five points behind leader Jamie McMurray.

Live T.V. coverage of the Sam's Town 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will start at 3:30 p.m. EST on FX. MRN Radio will broadcast the event live.
