Nemechek Wins at Las Vegas
Joe Nemechek held off Kevin Harvick to win the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Nemechek inherited the led with 32 laps remaining when leader Todd Bodine spun out during a side-by-side battle for the lead. Nemechek held on the rest of the way to outrun Harvick by .603 seconds. Nemechek led 49 of the event’s 200 laps to claim his 13th career Busch Grand National win and extend his BGN winning streak to seven years. Nemechek now gives Winston Cup drivers a win in all three Busch races this season. Harvick led 93 laps on the day, bringing home the second finishing position and taking over the series point lead. Mike Bliss was the best-in-class, finishing third as the top finishing BGN regular. Steve Park and Jason Keller rounded out the top five.
Rain Gives Barrett Pole at Vegas
Stanton Barrett will benefit from Greg Biffle’s championship season. Barrett, replacing Biffle in the No. 60 Ford, will start from the pole position for the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as a result of rain washing out Busch Grand National qualifying. The field was set by 2002 owner points, giving Barrett the pole, the first of his career. Jason Keller, the 2002 runner up, will start from the outside pole, followed by Kevin Harvick and Scott Wimmer in row two.
