TEAM MARINES RACING NOTES & QUOTES:
In seven starts at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Hamilton, Jr. has three top-10
finishes under his belt. This weekend he looks to better that with a win in
the CarQuest Auto Parts 300. Hamilton, Jr.'s one career win came last
season at New Hampshire International Raceway. Both driver and team are
hungry for another trip to victory lane.
New Crew Chief Announced:
Championship-winning crew chief Harold Holly has been named Crew Chief and
Director of Competition for the No. 25 NASCAR Busch Series Ford Taurus owned
by Team Rensi. Holly will make his debut as crew chief for the No. 25 Team
Marines Ford at Dover Downs International Speedway on Saturday, May 31.
"I can't wait to get started," said Holly. "With Bobby (Hamilton, Jr.)
behind the wheel and a solid crew behind us we will become the team to beat.
I've been brought on board to help this team over the hump and into victory
lane. Sam and Ed (Rensi, co-owners of Team Rensi Motorsports) have gathered
all the tools necessary for this team to compete for the Busch Series
championship. I'm excited to be here and for the future of Team Rensi."
Bobby Hamilton, Jr. on Charlotte:
"Lowe's Motor Speedway has a personality all its own," said Hamilton, Jr.
"It's not like some of the new 1.5 mile "cookie cutter" race tracks we go
to. If you're car is not handling well, turns three and four can be a
hairy. It's much tighter in three and four than it is in one and two and
the banking is a little bit different. It's also very temperature sensitive
track. Just a little cloud passing over the race track will effect your
car. I have always run pretty well at Lowe's, especially last year with two
top-10's. We'd like to improve upon those finishes and get the Team Marines
Ford back to victory lane."
Equipment:
The No. 25 Team Marines will compete with chassis No. 22 this weekend at
Lowe's Motor Speedway. Hamilton, Jr. has driven this chassis to one
top-five, two top-10's and four top-15 finishes in four races this season.
North Carolina Speedway (13th), Darlington Raceway (12th) and Nashville
Superspeedway (10th), California (18th) and Gateway (5th).
Special Appearances:
Hamilton, Jr. will be at the Food Lion's SpeedStreet in downtown Charlotte
on Thursday, May 22, 2003 to greet fans and sign autographs. Look for him
at the Creative Loafing stage from 4-6pm!
