Meijer 300 - Jason Schuler Notes

Cambridge, Wisconsin - June 11, 2003 – Jason Schuler and the Havill-Spoerl team are headed to Kentucky this week with high expectations after a solid run in Nashville. The 13th place finish in Nashville was a Busch Series career high for Jason, with his prior best career finish being 14th (twice) in the 2000 season. As the 2003 season is Jason’s first run at the full Busch series schedule, Nashville was Jason’s 31st Busch Series start.

The Nashville result is the high point of the season as the teams best finish to date was a 19th at Talladega. After a series of small problems have forced Jason and the Havill-Spoerl Racing Ford Taurus out of races this season, completing 222 of the 225 laps at Nashville accelerated the team’s learning curve.

“The team was so glad to finally get in a full race run. We were conservative on gear at Nashville, that helped, and by running the full race we learned a lot that we can apply at Kentucky this week” Jason explained.

For this week it is off to Kentucky with the team looking to build its momentum. After Kentucky the Busch Series takes a well deserved weekend off, then it is on to the Milwaukee Mile.

For the Milwaukee area based Havill-Spoerl team that will mean a few weeks at home, time to spend with family and friends, and to prepare for the second half of the season.
