Mr. Goodcents 300 - Scott Wimmer Notes

Scott Wimmer Event Preview
No. 23 Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Kansas Speedway - October 4, 2003

Wimmer on Kansas: Scott Wimmer, driver of the No. 23 Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevrolet, heads to Kansas looking for a strong finish at the 1.5-mile tri-oval.

"Kansas is one of our newest race tracks, so no one really has a lot of laps logged there," said Wimmer. "Over the past two years, the track has pretty much been a one-groove race track. Hopefully, the winter and weathering will help additional grooves come in for this year's race. I think that we should see a two-groove track this year."

"Kansas is very similar to the tracks at Las Vegas and Kentucky," said Wimmer. "It is so much alike that we can probably use our Kentucky set up right off the bat. Handling is very important at Kansas as the corners are so big and you have to get through them well. At the same time, you need good horsepower to get you down the straightaways. With it being a one-groove track in the past, pit stops will be critical. We've seen really long green flag runs there in the past, so we'll be pitting under green a lot. You'll need fast stops and good pit strategy to set you up for the end."

Equipment: Wimmer and the No. 23 Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team are taking the same car to Kansas they competed with earlier this year at Darlington, won with at Pikes Peak and raced at Kentucky where it qualified 10th and finished fifth.

"This car has been a very good car for us in the past when we have run it, especially at tracks similar to Kansas," said Wimmer. "We ran it at Pikes Peak, where we won and also at Kentucky, where we finished fifth. I'm optimistic that we can have similar results with it this weekend at Kansas."

Appearances: Wimmer will make appearances at the following locations during the Kansas race weekend:
· Thursday, October 2nd from 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Wimmer will sign autographs at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 2015 West Foxwood Drive, Raymore, MO 64083
· Saturday, October 4th at the W&H souvenir trailer located on Kansas Speedway property. Approximately from 9:15 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
