With a sixth place finish at Dover International Speedway, ACDelco
Chevrolet driver Ron Hornaday has closed the gap in the NASCAR Busch Series
championship race. Hornaday, a two-time NASCAR Southwest Tour (1992, '93)
and NASCAR Truck Series Champion ('96, '98), is in third place, just 61
points out of first position. In fact, the 106 points separating the
top-five make it the closest NBS points battle with seven races to go in the
history of the series.

The ACDelco transporter will unload chassis No.28 at Kansas
Speedway. The car raced once this year at Richmond International Speedway
in the spring race.

What are your thoughts on Kansas Speedway?
"Kansas is an unbelievable track. Despite the fact that it is only
1.5-miles, it's huge. The infield and garage areas are the best in NASCAR.
They are spacious and very fan friendly. As for racing here, I'm always
asked if it's like Chicagoland Speedway. It's not even close. They drive
completely different. You can't drive the corners as hard here, so hitting
your marks is crucial. I think we will see a lot of green flag racing, so
this race could come down to fuel mileage."
We are seeing the best battle for the NASCAR Busch Series championship ever.
Is the pressure of the championship starting to surface?
"I think the pressure started coming forward at Richmond. I think the post
race incidents over the last few weeks are part of that pressure and as
close as this race is, it will probably get worse. You can't understand
what it is like unless you have been through one of these deals. When you
get near the end of the season and you're in the hunt, everything is
multiplied by 100. If the car is off in practice, you get very concerned.
If you qualify poorly, you get very concerned. At this stage it feels like
you can't make a single mistake. Each position you lose on the track feels
like the championship slipping away. I have won these battles before and I
can tell you, from experience, you ain't seen nothing yet!"
Ron Hornaday and the ACDelco Chevrolet Monte Carlo are third in the NASCAR
Busch Series point's standings. Hornaday is 61 points out of first place.
