Last Race - (Stacker 200)- Lewis, Jr. and the No. 46 Civil Air Patrol
Racing team posted a 7th place finish at Dover International Speedway, their
7th top-10 of the season.
Standings - Lewis, Jr. remains 13th in the NASCAR Busch Series Drivers'
Points Standings. Team owner Ashton Lewis, Sr. holds the 15th spot in the
Owners' Points standings.
During The Off Week:
During his weekend off, Lewis, Jr., brother/ crew chief, Charlie Lewis, and
four Lewis Motorsports team members took off for Indianapolis Motor Speedway
for the United States Grand Prix. "Attending the Formula 1 race at Indy is
something I have been looking forward to all year," said Lewis, Jr. "For
one weekend I became the race fan. We sat in the stands, toured the garage,
and went by all the souvenir rigs. I am fascinated by the technology behind
this type of racing. It may not be the most exciting form of racing to
watch but if people understood the amount engineering work done on these
cars to make them run I think they would find it much more exciting. "
Lewis, Jr. On New Rules Regarding Racing Back To The Caution:
"I am glad that NASCAR did something about racing back to the caution. The
"gentleman's agreement" wasn't working anymore and NASCAR was forced to make
a rule. From a safety standpoint we have been pretty lucky that no one has
gotten seriously hurt while racing to the caution. I don't, however, agree
with the lap down car automatically getting their lap back. I don't have an
answer for what needs to be done instead, but it just doesn't seem fair to
"give" someone a lap back. That is something that should be earned, just as
it always has been."
Ashton Lewis, Jr. on Kansas Speedway:
"We're looking forward to going to Kansas Speedway and posting another
strong finish. We have always run pretty well there but have struggled
making it the end with a good finish. In the first event at Kansas we were
running 8th when we ran out of fuel. Last year, we had a great test there
but when we went back to race the set-up we tested with wasn't as strong as
we thought it would be under race conditions. Hopefully, the third time
will be the charm. We're taking the same car we raced in Dover to a 7th
place finish. The guys have been working hard getting the car turned around
and ready for this weekend. This car has a brand new body on it making it
what we feel is the most competitive car in the Lewis Motorsports stable.
We're excited to see what it will do this weekend at Kansas."
Equipment:
The No. 46 Civil Air Patrol Racing team will compete with chassis No. 04
this weekend in the Mr. Goodcents 300. This is the same chassis Lewis, Jr.
competed with two weeks ago in Dover and posted a 7th place finish.
