Green Wins in Kansas City
David Green emerged from a wild finish at Kansas Speedway in victory lane. The Mr. Goodcents 300 came down to a one-lap shootout after leader Michael Waltrip blew a right-front tire with four laps to go. Bobby Hamilton Jr. would lead the field to the restart with one lap to go but would crash due to contact after his engine fluttered, giving the lead to Green. Green led only one lap on the day, the final one, while Waltrip led the most laps, staying at the front of the field for 140 of the event’s 200 laps. For Green, the win is his third of the season and moves the 1994 champion back into the points lead. Green now leads Scott Riggs by 21 points. Kevin Harvick crossed the stripe in the second position followed by Greg Biffle in third. Jason Keller got the fourth position while Hank Parker Jr. finished fifth.
