Driver, Ashton Lewis, Jr. on IRP:
"Last year at IRP was full of ups and downs. We qualified 4th, which allowed
us to start the race up front. The car was pretty tight when the race began
and we worked on it some on the first pit stop, but unfortunately we lost
some track position and restarted in the back. We were making our way back
up to the front and got caught up in an accident that ended our day.
One thing that stands out in my mind about IRP is the height of the wall. It
's the only track we go to where you exit the corner and you can't see the
wall. You have to estimate where it is and hope you are right. It's not a
very easy place to pass so track position is going to be big. It's a lot of
follow the leader racing. If you have a better car you can get up to the
front, but you have to pick the right moments to make your move."
Crew Chief, Charlie Lewis on IRP:
"IRP is a tough place to get a handle on. It's a short, flat track that
reminds me a lot of the track Ashton and I started racing late models on
back in Virginia. The track surface is very abrasive so tire management and
conservation is really important to your success at this track. The fresher
your tires are at the end of the race the better off you'll be. It's a tough
place to pass so track position will also be crucial. You'll see some
strategizing by every team to get that track position especially in the
ending stages of the race."
Equipment:
Lewis, Jr. will drive chassis No. 13 this weekend at Indianapolis Raceway
Park. This is the same car Lewis, Jr. raced earlier this season in Richmond
(30th) - accident.

Civil Air Patrol Chevrolet this weekend at IRP. The grocery store's logo
will be placed on the rear quarter panels of the car.
Lewis, Jr. To Visit Osh Kosh, WI for the EAA Air Venture Event:
On Thursday, July 31, Lewis, Jr. will attend the 2003 AirVenture event in
Osh Kosh, WI, which this year is celebrating our 100 years in flight. The
annual event showcases every imaginable flying machine created by man and
exhibits featuring any possible aviation related item. The highlight of the
event is the three-hour air show with top performers such as Sean Tucker,
Patty Wagstaff and others.
