Charter Pipeline 250 - Scott Wimmer Notes
Scott Wimmer Event Preview
Wimmer on Gateway: Scott Wimmer, driver of the No. 23 Stacker 2/Stamina RX Chevrolet, makes his third start at Gateway International Raceway.
"Gateway is a tricky little track," said Wimmer. "It has really long straightaways and very tight corners, but the part that makes is so unique is the two ends are completely different. Turns one and two are very tight, while turns three and four are more sweeping. It takes a lot, especially a strong motor, to get through the corners. As long as the straightaways are, the car that comes off the corner best will be the one to beat. While the horsepower is needed to get off the corner, you still need great handling to get through the center well."
On Last Weekend's Run at Richmond: Wimmer scored his first top-five finish of the season last weekend at Richmond, and the Stacker 2/Stamina RX team hopes their luck has turned around.
"Our run at Richmond was really great for the whole team," said Wimmer. "We ran a good race and it was so awesome to get back to posting top-five finishes. We had to overcome a lot of things that night, but we raced really well and had great pit stops. Everything was there we needed and now we can concentrate on posting more good finishes in a row."
On His Teammate This Weekend: Wimmer will have a "teammate" this weekend as Kenny Wallace, NASCAR Winston Cup Series regular and fellow Bill Davis Racing driver, competes in the Busch Series event.
"It should be really fun to have Kenny around this weekend," said Wimmer. "I don't have a teammate normally to discuss and share information with, so it will be neat to be able to relate and talk back and forth with him, especially since we both will be driving Chevrolets and Busch cars. There are times I will go over on the Cup side and talk about things with him, but over there, he's in Dodge and a Cup car, so you can't relate as well. Hopefully, we will be able to have good runs for both teams having shared resources."
Equipment: The Stacker 2/Stamina RX Racing team is taking the same car to Gateway that competed last weekend at Richmond where it finished fifth.
Appearance: Wimmer will sign autographs Thursday, May 8th from 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery Tour Center will several other Busch Series drivers.
