Charter Pipeline 250 - Scott Riggs Notes
Scott Riggs Fast Facts
Scott Riggs on Gateway International Raceway: Scott Riggs, driver of the
No.
10 Nestlé Nesquik Ford Taurus, says Gateway is all in the set-up and he
will
rely on his crew chief, Doug Randolph, to find the balance.
"Gateway is challenging because Turns 1 and 2 are so different from Turns
3
and 4," said Riggs. "A driver has to give the right information to the
team
so they can find the right balance between the two ends. I might have to
give something up in [Turns] 1 and 2 but I trust Doug to give me an
advantage in [Turns] 3 and 4."
Riggs Hopes to Build on Richmond Momentum:
Nothing but the Tail Lights: Riggs likes the challenge of racing the
Winston
Cup drivers, but would love to have them in his rearview mirror when the
checkered flag falls.
"I like racing with the Winston Cup drivers," said Riggs. "I think racing
them improves my skills. Like I said last week, I just wish I was looking
in my rearview mirror at them instead of staring at their bumper when we
take the checkered flag."
First Time for Everything: Doug Randolph has never seen Gateway
International Raceway. Like Nashville, he will rely on the team notes and
his knowledge of the car to carry him through.
"I keep hearing how hot it was in St. Louis in July," said Randolph.
"From
what I hear, the team is more heat sensitive than the track and if that
holds true then the notes should guide me."
Equipment: The Nesquik Racing Team is taking car No. 1018 to Gateway
International Raceway. No. 1018 is the same car Riggs raced to a second
place finish in Richmond last week. On Monday, the car was unloaded and
the
right side was replaced. Prior to Richmond, the car was brand new and had
only been shaken down at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC.
