Riggs in Victory Lane at Gateway
Scott Riggs won the Charter Pipeline 250 at Gateway International Raceway after leader Mike Bliss ran out of fuel. Bliss had about a three-second lead as he took the white flag but ran out of gas shortly after. Riggs raced past the slowing Bliss and went on to take the checkered flag. The final lap was the only lap that Riggs led on the day. Riggs would beat David Green by .543 seconds to score his third career win and first this season. Green crossed the stripe in second place and bolted into the Busch Grand National points lead, holding a five-point lead over Todd Bodine. Jason Keller finished third, while Brian Vickers and Bobby Hamilton Jr. made out the top five.
