Winn-Dixie 250 - Todd Bodine Notes
BODINE AND ESGR RACING TEAM HOPE FOR
INDEPENDENCE DAY VICTORY AT DAYTONA
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 2, 2003) - While most of the nation will be celebrating
the Fourth of July with fireworks and sparklers, Todd Bodine and the ESGR
racing team hope to have their own celebration in victory lane when they
travel to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway for the Winn-Dixie 250.
The Busch Series event will take place on Friday night for the second consecutive
year "under the lights" at Daytona, the most famed racetrack in NASCAR.
Bodine enters the race in Daytona with 10 starts to his credit in the Busch
Series. Out of those 10 starts, he scored his best finish in February of
1997 when he finished second. With two top-10's and one top-five, the veteran
driver is hoping to take the ESGR Chevy into Daytona's hallowed victory
lane.
"For race car drivers, racing at Daytona is like the pinnacle of the sport,"
stated Bodine. "There is such a great atmosphere, and racing 'under the
lights' only adds to that atmosphere. Everyone wants to be able to say
that they've won at Daytona. I had one of my best finishes ever there in
February when I finished sixth, but it would be nice to visit Daytona's
victory lane with the ESGR Chevy."
Herzog Jackson Motorsports (HJM) will be making their fifth run at the 2.5-mile
track, where they have accumulated three top-10's and one top-five out of
four starts. Their best finish of fifth came in February of 2001 with driver
Jimmie Johnson in control of the No. 92.
After last weekend's eighth place finish at The Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile,
Bodine remains in third place in the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series driver's points
standings, where he currently sits only 80 points out of the lead.
Chartered in 1972 by Presidential Proclamation, the National Committee for
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense
agency that acts as a liaison between those serving in the Guard and Reserve
and their full-time civilian employers. Consisting of 4,200 volunteers
across the United States and overseas, the ESGR has become vital in their
services as the employment rights information source for members of the
Guard and Reserve.

NASCAR Busch Series championship, tune into TNT on Friday, July 4, beginning
at 8:00 pm EDT. MRN Radio will also be broadcasting the event live, beginning
