Jamie McMurray - Koolerz 300 Notes

Yellow Racing ~ Koolerz 300 Advance

Daytona Double Header…This year, Jamie McMurray will be racing a part-time schedule for Phoenix Racing as he drives the # 1 Yellow race car in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division. Yellow will be the primary sponsor on the car in 20 races, and an associate sponsor in 14 events for an entire season. In addition, he will be competing full-time in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. McMurray's first double-duty will be driving the # 1 Yellow Dodge in the Koolerz 300 on Saturday, followed by the #42 Havoline Dodge in the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

Jamie McMurray: "This Yellow Racing Team has made a name for itself as one that works hard to run up front. I like that about this team. I know as a competitor in the NASCAR Busch Series the past few years, I had to contend against this car all the time, and it's not fun being in another car when the # 1 Yellow race car is around. I'm just glad to be the one driving it now."

Phoenix Racing's Other Half… Team Owner James Finch has agreed to operate an alliance with Ganassi Racing, which includes the drivers, car manufacturers and engines. In fact, American Speed Association (ASA) stand-out David Stremme will share driving duties this season with McMurray and will be pit support for the Yellow Racing Team at Daytona.

Marc Reno: "We've gone through big changes with new drivers and manufacturers. Jamie is a semi-veteran in the Busch Series, and David will be a great addition to our team. Dodge motors will be the biggest plus for us. We also have a good rapport with Donnie Wingo (McMurray's Winston Cup Crew Chief) since we shared information in the past when he was the crew chief at Haas Carter Motorsports and Jimmy (Spencer) drove for both programs."

Daytona Testing…The Yellow Racing Team tested with Joe Ruttman behind the wheel at Daytona, Jan. 23 and 24. The # 1 Yellow Dodge posted the 19th-overall quickest lap time of 49.507 seconds, with a top speed of 181.792 mph.

Jamie McMurray: "Speedway testing is more about the car, than the driver. I've learned from my Winston Cup practices where the Dodges run well in the draft and anytime you can practice drafting at these big tracks you gain more experience to help you be more competitive on race day."

Marc Reno:"The car wasn't really responding to the changes we made during testing. But, once we returned to the shop, we found a problem in the intake-manifold that we couldn't see at our test. Then, we took the car to Talladega the following week and saw great improvement. So, we're looking forward to some fast lap times at Daytona this week."

Yellow Racing Transformed…In January, McMurray and the Phoenix Racing Team attended Yellow Transformation, a bi-annual business and logistics conference sponsored by Yellow Transportation and Meridian IQ, along with nearly 1,000 employees, 500 customers and guests. The team shared racing stories with guests and demonstrated real-time pit stops, while Yellow CEO Bill Zollars presented keynote speaker Rudy Giuliani with a Yellow Racing leather jacket.

Jamie McMurray: "I had the opportunity to meet Yellow representatives and employees recently. I'm very impressed with the organization and I'm excited to drive the Yellow car this year. They're probably the best sponsor in the series and it's obvious that they run a top-notch program and are dedicated to making it successful."

Marc Reno:"Yellow has been the best sponsor I've ever been associated with in the sport. James Welch, president of Yellow Transportation, and the whole organization make the program work with their customers. They've also been absolutely supportive of our team. They're racing because it's good for business. We've given them results by making every single event, running well and winning races. I look forward to another successful season with Yellow."
