Stacker 200 Presented by YJ Stinger - Brian Vickers Notes

VICKERS SECOND AFTER RIR TOP-FIVE: With a fourth-place effort at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, Brian Vickers and GMAC Racing gained another position in the NASCAR Busch Series championship standings, moving to second place, just 48 points behind leader David Green. The team has picked up a full 40 positions since leaving the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway 42nd in the standings.

GMAC RACING BACK TO DOVER: In the 13 races since GMAC Racing visited Dover, the team has failed to finish in the top 10 on just two occasions -- at Pikes Peak International Raceway in July and Michigan International Speedway in August. During that stretch, Vickers has amassed two victories, seven top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes.

HENDRICK & VICKERS ATTEND GRAVITY GAMES: Vickers spent part of his off-weekend in Cleveland with Busch Series car owner Ricky Hendrick attending Sunday's Gravity Games, an action sports, music and lifestyle festival featuring events like Bike Vert, Skateboard Street and Wakeboard Best Trick. The two were on hand to see Nate Adams beat out defending Gravity Games champion Travis Pastrana for freestyle motocross gold.

CARQUEST PAINT FOR NO. 5 CHEVY: Saturday's Stacker 200 will feature another special paint scheme for GMAC Racing, with the CARQUEST Auto Parts logo displayed on the hood of the No. 5 Chevy. The team ran identical paint schemes at California Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Lowe's Motor Speedway earlier this season.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: If he qualifies for all 36 Nextel Cup Series events in the No. 25 Chevrolets next season, Vickers will become the youngest driver ever to complete a full schedule on NASCAR's premier circuit in the modern era. In 1974, Richie Panch was younger, but did not start all of the scheduled events that season (28 of 30). Vickers will turn 21 in October of 2004.

CHASSIS NO. 172 FOR VICKERS: Vickers will compete with Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 172 at Dover, the same car that was entered in the May event at "The Monster Mile," leading eight laps and finishing fifth. It most recently was used at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway last month to finish seventh.

BRIAN VICKERS, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 GMAC FINANCIAL SERVICES CHEVROLET: (WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO WIN HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS' FIRST BUSCH SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP?) "Consistency and very few mistakes. I don't think you're going to see any of the teams in contention just distance themselves from the others and run away with it right now. You have five teams that have been very consistent so far and I don't see that changing. Everyone involved in the points race is there for a reason -- they're all extremely good."

VICKERS: (AT THIS POINT IN THE SEASON, WOULD YOU RATHER BE THE "HUNTER" OR THE "HUNTED"?) "Right now, it's fun being the hunter, but I would much rather be the hunted. When you're the team being hunted it means you've already made it to the top and those chasing you want to be in your shoes. We've done a good job so far this season playing the role of the hunters, but knowing our team, we're not going to be satisfied until we're on top."

VICKERS: (ON RETURNING TO DOVER.) "It's one of those places where things can go wrong quickly if you're not careful. We ran very well there in the spring and had a car that was capable of winning until we suffered damage on a restart after running into the back of Matt (Kenseth) when he missed a shift. The way we've been running, I like our chances."
