CAP Racing Notes & Quotes

When being asked what he did on a rare weekend off, Ashton Lewis, Jr. admits with a smile, "absolutely nothing." After the much-deserved break, Lewis, Jr. turns his attention towards Dover International Speedway, a track he admits he has always struggled. However, after a test session there last week, Lewis, Jr. and crew feel like they have a pretty good shot at conquering the "Monster Mile."

Last Race - (Funai 250)- Lewis, Jr. and the No. 46 Civil Air Patrol Racing team posted a 19th place finish at Richmond International Raceway.

Standings - Lewis, Jr. remains 13th in the NASCAR Busch Series Drivers' Points Standings. Team owner Ashton Lewis, Sr. holds the 15th spot in the Owners' Points standings.

Ashton Lewis, Jr. on Dover:
v "After our test session at Dover last week, I have a lot more confidence in our ability to perform well this weekend. This has been a track we have notoriously struggled at every time we go there. During the two-day test we covered a lot of ground. We not only worked on the handling of the car and qualifying runs, but I spent a lot of time on my driving style and technique as well, trying out different lines and trying to find more speed. By the end of the test, we had picked up a significant amount of speed. We did realize however, that some changes need to be made to the body, so as soon as we got back we sent it to Bryan Robertson at RCI for some modifications. In all, we feel like we will be very competitive this weekend at Dover given that we have little bit of luck on our side."

Equipment:
The No. 46 Civil Air Patrol Racing team will compete with chassis No. 04 this weekend in the Stacker 200. Lewis, Jr. last competed with this chassis in the spring Bristol race where he recorded an 18th place finish.

Testing:
The CAP Racing team tested at Dover International Speedway in preparation for the Stacker 200 on September 8-9, 2003.
