CAP Racing Notes & Quotes:
Driver, Ashton Lewis, Jr. on Chicagoland:
"We have been looking forward to returning to Chicagoland Speedway since we
tested there last month. We had a great test and feel like we learned a lot
of things that are really going to help us not just this weekend but
throughout the rest of the season. We tried a set-up that we had never run
before and found a lot of success with it. We used a variation of it in
Milwaukee and it worked pretty good there as well. We're also taking the
same car we won the pole with at Gateway in May. After a couple of small
improvements, we feel it's probably the best car we have ever had to compete
with. Altogether, we have set some high expectations for this weekend event
and feel like we have a good shot at meeting those expectations."
Crew chief, Charlie Lewis on Chicagoland:
"Chicagoland is another one of those tracks where you have to have the total
package to be successful - a good aero package, a good handling race car and
a LOT of horsepower. Motor is probably the most important dynamic at this
track. The driver is on the gas all day long. He needs to be able to stay
on the throttle and have a lot of momentum going into and off the corners.
Roush has made some big gains in the horsepower department so I feel very
confident if everything comes together the way we anticipate, we'll be able
to run up front and stay there."
Equipment:
Ashton Lewis, Jr. will compete this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway with the
same chassis he competed with earlier this season at Gateway International
Raceway, where he earned his first career pole award.
Testing:
The team tested at Chicagoland Speedway on June 16-17, 2003.
