Hamilton Jr. Annihilates Competition at Chicagoland
Bobby Hamilton Jr. blew away the competition on Saturday afternoon, dominating the Tropicana Twister 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. To say that Hamilton dominated is an understatement, as he was only four cars short of lapping the entire field. The race was the second rout in as many weeks, Dale Earnhardt Jr. led flag to flag last week at Daytona. Hamilton led 186 of the event’s 200 laps to score his second win of the season and the third of his Busch series career. Hamilton’s margin of victory was 4.503 seconds, the largest winning margin of the season. Matt Kenseth finished in the runner-up position and Brian Vickers came home in third. Polesitter Casey Mears and Michael Waltrip rounded out the top five.

Mears turned in a qualifying lap of 29.710 seconds, at an average speed of 181.757 mph, to earn the pole in only his third Busch race of the season. Defending race winner Johnny Sauter will start from the outside of the front row, taking the second position on the starting grid. Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Dave Blaney will start from the second row, qualifying third and fourth respectively.
