Aaron's 312 - Bobby Hamilton, Jr. Notes
HAMILTON, JR. AIMS FOR BACK TO BACK VICTORIES IN BUSCH SERIES
HAMPTON, GA --- Hopes are high for Bobby Hamilton, Jr. and The Team Marines NASCAR Busch Series team in Atlanta this weekend. Hamilton, Jr. will attempt to become the first driver in 2003 to win consecutive Busch Series races after winning last weekend at the Memphis Motorsports Park. With another win, Hamilton, Jr. would also become the only 4-race winner this season.
"I have had the Atlanta race circled on the calendar all season, now we get to enter it with the momentum of last week's win," said Hamilton, Jr. "I love racing in Atlanta, it's such a fast race track and I have always enjoyed racing there. With the car Harold and the guys have ready for me, I feel like we will have a great chance to bring home another trophy for the Team Marines Racing Team."
Hamilton, Jr. will also have a little extra track time this weekend as Team Rensi Motorsports has entered a Winston Cup car for Sunday's Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. Pulling double duty for Hamilton, Jr. should benefit the Busch Series team with the extra practice time on Saturday morning. Just three weeks ago, Hamilton, Jr. performed "double duty" at Kansas Speedway and came up one lap short of a win in the Busch Series race and finished 14th in the Winston Cup race after rallying from two laps down. Hamilton, Jr. spent two days last week in Atlanta testing the # 35 Team Rensi Motorsports Winston Cup car.
"We had a real solid test last week with the Cup car," Hamilton, Jr. said. "We learned a lot of things with the test that should also help the Busch Series car. Our top priority is winning the Busch Series race, but I am looking forward to running for a top-ten finish on Sunday as well."
