Kenseth Withdraws from Charlotte Busch Race

CONCORD, NC (October 12, 2003) – Roush Racing driver and current Winston Cup point leader Matt Kenseth has made a decision to withdraw from today’s running of the Little Trees 300 Busch Grand National event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Citing his position in the Winston Cup point standings and the length of running two events in one day, he had the following to say:

“I talked it over with Robbie [Reiser] and Mark [Martin] and just decided that it’s best to concentrate on the DEWALT team right now with where we are in the points,” said Kenseth. “800 miles in one day is a lot and I want to make sure I’m fresh at the end of the Cup race if I need to be,” he added.

He went on to address the possibility of running the Busch race if it gets postponed Saturday morning.

“If the weather turns out to be a problem today and they run the race tomorrow, I’ll still run the car,” he stated.
