Kahne, Yates Add Race to its Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 12, 2002) – Channellock Racing is adding another race to its 2002 schedule. The No. 98 Channellock Ford Taurus, driven by Kasey Kahne in the NASCAR Busch Series, will make its first appearance in another series in October.

During the NASCAR Busch Series’ final off weekend of the season, the Robert Yates Racing team will be packing up for Talladega Superspeedway. The team will be running in the Auto Racing Club of America (ARCA) race that will be held Saturday, October 5.

Kahne will be behind the wheel of a Superspeedway car that is being provided by his Robert Yates Racing Winston Cup teammate, the No. 28 Havoline Racing team.

“We decided to run at Talladega to help better prepare Kasey for the 2003 season,” explained Clyde McLeod, crew chief for the No. 98 Channellock Racing team. “Kasey hasn’t had a lot of drafting experience and we want him to learn as much as he can before going to Daytona in February.”

Kahne and his Channellock Racing team will test at Talladega Superspeedway this coming Wednesday, September 18 in preparation for the Food World 300. “I am looking forward to running at Talladega,” stated Kahne. “Running Daytona in July was a new experience for me. I have never had to draft, so it is something that I think I could use a little help with. This Channellock Racing team is going to have a great car that the No. 28 Havoline team is building for us, so I am sure that I am going to learn a lot.”

The team will look the same, but the car will be a little different for Kahne’s ARCA debut. Kahne will be driving an all blue No. 98 Channellock Ford Taurus as he takes the green flag Saturday, October 5, 2002. The Food World 300 will air tape-delayed on the Speed Channel starting at 8:00 p.m. EST.
