Joe Gibbs Racing and Rockwell Automation Team Up for the 2003 Season
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C., (Sept. 17, 2002) - Joe Gibbs Racing announced today
that it has signed a multi-year contract with Rockwell Automation to be the
primary sponsor of a second NASCAR Busch Series team. The No. 20 Rockwell
Automation/JGR Chevrolet will run as a teammate to the No. 18 MBNA team,
which currently sits in sixth-place in the latest Busch Series point
standings. The team will be under the guidance of Steve de Souza, V.P. of
Busch Series Operations for Joe Gibbs Racing.
"Rockwell Automation is very excited about our new partnership with Joe
Gibbs Racing", said Joseph D. Swann, president, Rockwell Automation Power
Systems. "Joe Gibbs has had tremendous success in racing and in life. His
organization exemplifies many of the same values and principles that
Rockwell Automation is built on. We look forward to many successes on and
off the track next year."
Joe Gibbs Racing, which is owned by NFL Hall of Fame Coach and three-time
Super Bowl winning coach Joe Gibbs, has been in existence since the middle
of 1991 and races cars in the NASCAR Busch Series as well as the NASCAR
Winston Cup and Craftsman Truck Series.
"You could not ask for a better primary sponsor than Rockwell Automation,"
added Joe Gibbs. "Joe Swann and his team are a first class organization
and have the same desire as Joe Gibbs Racing to win on and off the track.
We look forward to continuing to field a winning program for Rockwell
Automation's employees, distributors, and customers."
The 2003 season will mark Rockwell Automation's seventh consecutive year of
involvement in the NASCAR Busch Series and their fourth year as a primary
sponsor.
