Roush Hires Parrott to Chrew Chief Burton's BGN Program
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (December 5, 2001)-Roush Racing announced today that Brad Parrott will assume the role of crew chief for the No. 9 Gain Laundry Detergent Ford with driver Jeff Burton in the NASCAR Busch Series. Parrott assumes his responsibilities as crew chief immediately.
"Brad is one of the guys in the sport with so much excitement and energy and a dedication to win," Burton said. "I know he will help bring professionalism and a great deal of success to this program. It's rare that a person with his experience is available, and when they are, you can't let them pass by. I have every bit of confidence in Brad that he will take our Busch program to a new level."
Parrott is no stranger to racing, and he's seen victory lane 46 times in the Winston Cup Series with drivers Dale Jarrett, Terry Labonte, Rusty Wallace, Derrick Cope, Geoff Bodine, Bobby Allison and Richard Petty.
"I'm real excited about this opportunity to come back to Roush Racing," Parrott said. "I was here in 1996 for a short period and I really like the way things are done here. I think this is going to be beneficial for not only me but for Roush Racing as well. I've been a part of many Winston Cup victories, and I look forward to bringing that knowledge to the Busch Series and win a few here, too."
Parrott most recently worked at Robert Yates Racing from 1996-2001. He began as chassis specialist and followed that by assuming role of assistant crew chief after a brief stint as crew chief of the No. 32 team with driver Ricky Craven from July-October 2000.
Prior to his experience at Robert Yates Racing, Parrott worked on Burton's newly formed team in 1996 for three months. He also brings a wealth of knowledge from previous employers Penske Racing and Hendrick Motorsports.
Roush Racing is a subsidiary of Roush Industries and operates eight motorsports teams; four in NASCAR Winston Cup with drivers Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch; two in the Busch series with Burton and Greg Biffle; and two teams in the Craftsman Truck series with drivers Jon Wood and Kyle Busch.
