GNC Live Well 200 - Kevin Harvick Notes HAPPY'S BIG ADVENTURE NO. 3 MAKES STOP IN WATKINS GLEN ON THE BUSCH SERIES This weekend is the third of six double duty weekends where Kevin Harvick will be competing at different tracks in different states on the NASCAR Busch and Winston Cup Series. This weekend's installment of Happy's Big Adventure stops in Daytona on Saturday night July 7th for the Pepsi 400 and on Sunday in Watkins Glen, New York, for the GNC Live Well 200. The first double duty weekend of this season, Nazareth/the Winston, took place on May 19-20 in Charlotte at the Winston all-star Winston Cup event on Saturday and in Nazareth, Penn., for the Busch race on Sunday. The transfers between Nazareth and Charlotte went off without a hitch because of the tireless efforts of members of Richard Childress Racing, local police personnel and staff from both racetracks. Harvick was able to concentrate on racing. He qualified third at the Winston and finished 21st after a wreck because of rain and a mechanical failure. At Nazareth, he qualified second for the Busch race and finished second after dominating a good deal of the race. The second double duty weekend took place at Kentucky and Pocono on June 16th and 17th for the Busch and Winston Cup races, respectively. Harvick won the race at Kentucky after the ACDelco team delivered the most remarkable comeback of the season. While Harvick was practicing in Pocono on Saturday, Mike Bliss, who was shaking down the car for Harvick during morning practice at Kentucky Speedway, crashed in turn four. The damage to the No. 2 car forced the team to go to the backup. The team worked feverishly to get the car ready for qualifying and remarkably Harvick posted the 11th fastest time. Harvick took to racing with a vengeance and dominated the race on his way to victory for the second time this season. Harvick finished 15th at Pocono on Sunday of that weekend to hold the ninth place position in the Winston Cup points standings for the second straight week. Harvick hopes for a similar level of success this weekend. HAPPY'S BIG ADVENTURE The Double-duty weekends are: 1. Memphis, Busch, October 13th & Martinsville, Winston Cup, October 14th* Harvick is the only driver in modern NASCAR history to attempt to compete in every Winston Cup and Busch Series event in the same season. All told, at the end of the season, Harvick will have competed in 70 races, every race on both schedules except for the Daytona 500 and he will compete in one Truck race at Richmond. He had the most dominant car in the field, and led 165 laps. However, the race went green for a long period of time near the end and Harvick was forced to pit for a splash of fuel. Greg Biffle, however, did not pit and cruised onto victory because of superior fuel mileage. Harvick, however, maintains the top spot by 112 points over Biffle. Busch Series Points 1. His first road course start of the season was also his first road course race of his Winston Cup career just over two weeks ago at Sears Point Raceway. Harvick qualified 12th and finished 14th after a successful late race duel with the leader at the time, Robbie Gordon, helped him gain 19 positions by getting back on the lead lap. This weekend's visit to the Glen is his first of two stops at Watkins Glen International in just over a month. He will return for the Winston Cup race at the Glen on August 12th. HARVICK AT THE GLEN: Harvick will be making his fifth start at the Glen this weekend. Last year, he posted his career best finish at the Glen, third, after starting ninth. He finished first among the Busch Series regulars, as he finished behind road racing aces Butch Leitzinger and Ron Fellows. Harvick has shown steady improvement after every trip to the Glen. His last Truck race at the Glen in 1999, he finished seventh, which was a 16-position improvement over his previous best finish.
