Jeff Green Fast Facts Jeff Green On Watkins Glen: Jeff Green, 2000 NASCAR Busch Series Champion and driver of the No. 10 Nestlé Nesquik Ford Taurus, is searching for his first win at Watkins Glen International. "I know we are certainly capable of winning this weekend at Watkins Glen," said Green. "Staying on the road and having the right pit strategy are the keys to winning. Track position is everything because unlike ovals, the lap cars do not get to double up, so you could be in fourth place, but 30th in line. " Equipment: Green and his Nesquik Racing team are taking a brand new car to Watkins Glen this weekend. The car was taken to Hickory Motor Speedway to "shakedown" the car and those were the first and only laps the car has run. "We have a really strong car, much better than we ever had in the past," said Green. "The car has been built from the ground, specifically designed for a road course. The past two years we have converted a short track car over for the road course race." Road Course Experts: Green has his own opinions regarding competing against the road course "hired guns" this weekend at Waktins Glen. "I'm not really for teams bringing in a 'hired gun' for a road course race, but I understand why some teams do it," said Green. "If you are not in the points race and your only goal is to win the race, then it makes sense to hire a road racer. However, this is not the case for our Nesquik Racing team. We are in it for the points. I wish everyone could be in the same boat where everyone is running for points and then we see who is the best road course racer of the Busch regulars. I know Greg Biffle and Kevin Harvick will be strong this weekend, but I know we're up to the task as well." Crew Member Homecoming: Rick "Fuz" Burgdoff, front Tire Changer and Mechanic on the No. 10 Nesquik Racing team, hails from Oneida, NY, located approximately 2 hours Northeast of Watkins Glen. Lifetime of Experience: Green's name may not come to mind when you think of a seasoned road course racer, but many are not aware of his experience. "I really enjoy racing the road courses," said Green. "I think it is because I grew up racing go karts and we raced on street circuits where you are constantly turning left and right all day long, just like the road courses. I started racing go karts when I was eight years old, so I have many years under my belt doing that type of racing. The biggest thing I had to learn in the transition to stock cars was shifting, because we didn't have to do that in go karts. I have always run well at Watkins Glen in a Busch car, so I feel we are capable of coming out of there with a top-five finish." Road Course Education: In addition to his years racing go karts, Green participated in the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in 1997 to sharpen his road course racing skills.
