QUOTES

Driver Mike Skinner on Talladega… “I always look forward to coming to Talladega. It will be a little different competing in both events, but I think I’ll be able to pull it off. The cars are so similar now that you can learn a lot going back and forth during the weekend. We’ve been very competitive there with the Lowe’s car and I got my career-best finish in the April race last year. I’m excited about improving on that, and seat time in the Busch car can’t do anything but help that effort.”

“Even though last weekend was my weekend off, I was excited to get in the No.21 car at Nashville and I feel the same about Talladega. I think we showed last week that the team and I are really coming together quickly. Gil and I are already getting comfortable with our communication, and soon he’ll know exactly what I need when we need to make an adjustment. The guys on the team work so well together and are awesome to driver for. They deserve a win and we’ll get one before too long.”

Crew chief Gil Martin on Talladega…

“I’m looking forward to racing at Talladega this weekend. The RCR cars have always run well at superspeedways, especially this track. The teams coming off their best finish of the season in Nashville and we’re going into this weekend’s race with the intent to win.”

“It’s great having (Mike) Skinner in the car because it seems to have picked up the team a little bit and given us some momentum. It really helps that he’s done so well at this track in a Cup car, and we’ll do our best to keep him running up front in the Busch car. I think his best finish was second last year and we’re hoping we can take him to Victory Lane in his first Busch race.”

NOTES

Fine Finish…The No. 21 Rockwell Automation Racing Team achieved their best finish since becoming a team last Saturday at the new Nashville Superspeedway. After starting 28th, Team Rock helped driver Mike Skinner work his way through a wreck-ridden field to finish sixth.

New Look for No. 21…The Rockwell Automation Chevy will sport a new look this weekend for the Subway 300. Promoting one of its new products - the Reliance SABRE motor, the No. 21 RCR racing machine will be painted a gun-metal metallic gray and switch its hood decal to the Sabre logo.

Skinner at Talladega…Skinner logged his career-best Winston Cup finish at Talladega Superspeedway last year when he claimed second in the April 2000 event. In eight races at NASCAR longest track, he’s posted one top-five and three top-10 finishes.

Uncharted Territory…Even though Skinner has been around Talladega thousands of times in a Winston Cup car, this Saturday will mark the first time he will run a Busch car at the high-banked 2.66-mile racetrack.
