Nazareth 200 - Kevin Harvick Notes HARVICK HOPES FIRST WEEKEND OF DOUBLE-DUTY PRODUCES TWO WINS, ONE AT NAZARETH DOUBLE-DUTY - Kevin Harvick will be running both the NASCAR Winston Cup and NASCAR Busch Series races this weekend. It is the first of six weeks this season that he will be running two races, on the same weekend, at different racetracks, in different states. The Winston - Harvick qualified for the All-Star non-points event on Saturday night May 19th by winning the Cracker Barrel 500 at Atlanta on March 11th. He won his first race in just his third start, the fastest ever in modern era.
The other five Double-duty weekends are: WINSTON TO NAZARETH, NAZARETH TO THE WINSTON & BACK - Harvick has a busy schedule this weekend. He will be running the Winston this Saturday night in Charlotte, N.C. and the Busch race at Nazareth, Penn. on Sunday. He will qualify both the No. 2 ACDelco and the No. 29 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolets. His schedule looks something like this: Friday-Practice and qualify for the Winston at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte Saturday morning - Fly from Charlotte on the Richard Childress Racing's plane to Nazareth, land in Allentown, Penn. approximately 9:45 am. Proceed directly to the track for 11:30 am - 1:30 pm Busch practice and qualifying at 3:00 pm. He will qualify first and then will head back to the airport for a flight back to Charlotte. The Winston begins at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday morning - Harvick will fly back to Nazareth to arrive at 9:45 a.m. The drivers meeting starts at 11:00 a.m. and the race at 1:00 p.m. SIXTY-NINE RACES - Harvick will be competing in more NASCAR races this season, 69 total, than any other driver in the modern era on the NASCAR Busch and NASCAR Winston Cup Series. HARVICK ON NAZARETH - "The track is really narrow with lots of turns. It's very challenging. We tested there because it's so important to get qualified well. It's really hard to pass because the track is so narrow and they're so many turns. Some people say they're four turns, some say six or even seven. There is a huge elevation change for a circle track. The high point is in turn two and the low point is in four. It has to something like thirty feet." "We look at this race as a very important one in the championship chase because it's really easy to get torn up at Nazareth. You have to be on the look out for spinning cars and you have to make sure to stay in the groove and pass only when it's safe." "We're going to be missing "Happy Hour" on Saturday afternoon, but I think we'll be okay. We have good notes from last year and we're going to work on mostly our race setup during first practice on Saturday." LAST YEAR AT NAZARETH - After qualifying in the eighth position Harvick was running solidly in the sixth position. He complained about a vibration early in the race and the crew found that a chunk of rubber was missing from one of the tires. The ACDelco crew changed tires and quickly got him back out in the action in 14th place. He was running in 11th when Tony Raines wrecked and collected the AC Delco Chevrolet. The extensive front-end damage put Harvick a lap down. He eventually finished 17th, but left Nazareth fourth in the championship points. NAZARETH CAR - Harvick will be competing in RCR chassis #10 this weekend. It saw the track most recently at California where Harvick qualified it in fifth position and drove onto a fifth place finish. LAP COUNT Kevin Harvick will be logging more laps and miles, by far, than any other NASCAR driver this season. Here is the total to date.
