Little Trees 300 - Jay Sauter Notes Jay Sauter #43 Quality Farm Stores/Morton Salt Chevrolet Monte Carlo LITTLE TREES 300 / October 6, 2001 Lowe’s Motor Speedway Last Race – Kansas … Jay Sauter qualified 23rd and finished 14th in the inaugural Mr. Goodcents 300 at the Kansas Speedway on Saturday, September 29th.. Sauter ran in the top twenty all afternoon and his smooth, steady performance earned him a 14th-place finish. It was the 13th top fifteen finish of the season for Sauter and kept him 17th in the overall Busch Series points for 2001. That size fits just fine! … Jay Sauter has had an impressive record on the 1.5-mile tracks on the NASCAR Busch Series schedule. Let’s examine his record this year at the 1.5-mile facilities: Note: In the five races Sauter was running at the finish, his average finish is 9.8; start 12.6. "Congratulations, Champ" … With his victory last weekend at IRP, Johnny Sauter, younger brother of Jay, won the 2001 American Speed Association (ASA) Championship. Johnny Sauter also captured the ASA Rookie of the Year title this season. Another Sauter brother, Tim, finished second at IRP driving one of Johnny’s backup cars. Both Johnny and Tim will join older brother Jay in the NASCAR Busch Series next season. Sauter on the Little Trees 300 and Lowe’s Motor Speedway … "Lowe’s Motor Speedway is one of the most difficult tracks that we have on the Busch Series. The track is so ‘weather sensitive’ that you really have to ‘chase’ your setup the entire weekend. A car that is adjustable is very important at Charlotte. Charlotte week is always a big race weekend. The track is in the driver’s backyard and everybody wants a win at Charlotte on their record. I’ll have the same car that I drove to a third place finish at Texas earlier this year, so I’m hoping for another strong performance this weekend."
