MBNA.com 200 - Mike McLaughlin Notes McLAUGHLIN AND MBNA RACING TEAM TO SHOW THEIR PRIDE FOR AMERICA THIS WEEKEND IN DOVER DOVER, DE --- After a weekend off from racing, Mike McLaughlin and his # 18 MBNA Racing Team head north to the Dover Downs International Raceway this weekend. In addition to the excitement of competing in a race sponsored by MBNA, the MBNA.com 200, the entire team is looking forward to a return to racing after last weeks tragic events. Along with many other NASCAR Busch Series teams, the # 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team will display their own tribute to The United States of America. The car will be emblazoned with a large United States Flag on the hood, two more flags on the quarter panels of the car and another large flag on the trunk of the Pontiac. Crew Chief Tim Shutt expressed his excitement with the new look on the racecar. "I think its going to give everyone watching another reason to feel pride in our country. It’s been a very hard week for everyone in America, hopefully this weekend’s races can provide everyone, including our team, a chance to enjoy the return to a normal activity. We would love to pull the car into Victory Lane on Saturday and celebrate a return to racing with our sponsor, MBNA." The MBNA.com 200 will take the green flag on Saturday at 1:00pm EDT. PIT NOTES Mike McLaughlin captured his first career NASCAR Busch Series victory at Dover Downs in 1995. The original plan for the MBNA.com 200 was for McLaughlin to compete in a Cal Ripken Jr. themed racecar. In honor of all of America, the United States Flag will be displayed instead on the MBNA # 18 Pontiac. The Winston Cup race will carry the name of the legendary Baltimore Orioles third baseman.
