NAPA Auto Parts 300 - Daytona International Speedway
LaJoie Wins NAPA 300
Randy LaJoie took the season-opening win in the NAPA Auto Parts 300 at Daytona. LaJoie held off Kevin Harvick by .144 seconds to win the event for the third time in the last five years. LaJoie led a total of 12 out of the race's 120 laps and will take the Busch points lead into Rockingham. Following second-place Harvick to the finish line were Matt Kenseth, 2000 champion Jeff Green, and Jimmie Johnson.
Nemechek Takes Daytona Pole
"Front Row Joe" Nemechek landed on the pole position for the NAPA Auto Parts 300 at Daytona International Speedway. Nemechek, the first car to qualify, turned in a fast lap of 48.137 seconds, at an average speed of 186.966 mph, around the 2.5-mile track. Nemechek's teammate Randy LaJoie will start from the outside pole, while PJ Jones and Jeff Purvis round out row two.
