South Carolina 200 - Darlington Raceway
Burton Wins at Darlington
Winston Cup regular Jeff Burton drove his number nine Ford to Victory Lane in the Busch Grand National event at Darlington on Saturday. Burton outdistanced Elton Sawyer to take the checkered flag for the South Carolina 200. Burton dominated the race, leading for 75 of the event's 147 laps, to win for the first time this season on the Busch circuit. Mike McLaughlin would finish in the third spot, while pole winner Ryan Newman and Bobby Hamilton Jr. made out the top five.
Newman On Pole at Darlington in South Carolina 200
Ryan Newman licked the competition on Friday, claiming the pole for Saturday's South Carolina 200 NASCAR Busch Series race at Darlington Raceway. The South Bend, Ind., native blew away the
competition turning a lap of 29.056 seconds, 169.246 mph. The next closest competitor on the speed chart was Winston Cup veteran Mike Skinner, who turned a lap of 166.163 mph. Rounding out the top five were Jason Keller, Lyndon Amick, and 2000 Busch Series champion Jeff Green.
