Green Claims First Darlington Win
In his 12th Busch series start at Darlington, Jeff Green finally tamed the Lady in Black. Green held off Matt Kenseth to claim his 11th career win. Green led for 28 of the event's 180 laps, Kenseth led the most laps, leading 66 on the day. Green's ppc teammate Jason Keller finished in the third spot, with Kenny Wallace and Mike McLaughlin rounding out the top five.
Newman Wins Second Pole in a Row
Ryan Newman scored his second pole position of the 2001 season, and his career, grabbing the top starting spot for the Suncom 200 at Darlington Raceway. Newman toured the 'track too tough to tame' in 28.876 seconds, at an average speed of 170.301 mph. Todd Bodine will start from the outside pole, followed by Matt Kenseth and Bobby Hamilton Jr. in row two.
