Last race - Talladega… Jay Sauter qualified 18th and finished 7th in the Subway 300 last Saturday at the Talladega Superspeedway. It was the second top ten in the last three races for Sauter following a career best third at Texas on March 31st. Sauter now has five top-fifteen finishes this season and currently stands 12th in the overall NASCAR Busch Series point standings. Sauter is only 32 points behind 10th place Randy Lajoie after nine races in 2001.

"When it rains, it pours" … The Auto Club 300 at the California Speedway will be the first of six races in 2001 with Morton Salt as the primary sponsor on the #43 Curb-Agajanian Chevrolet. Jay Sauter will also pilot the Morton Salt Chevrolet at Milwaukee (July 1), Chicagoland (July 14), Indianapolis (August 4), Phoenix (October 27), and Homestead (November 10).

Sauter on the Auto Club 300 and the California Speedway … "I’ve always managed to run well at California, so I’m looking forward to this weekend. Last year, I had a mechanical problem in qualifying and had to start in the rear, but I had a strong car and was able to work my way into a top ten finish. This team has a great deal of momentum going to California. We could have had three straight top tens, maybe even a win, if the debris hadn’t ruined our day at Nashville. The guys on this Quality Farm Stores/Morton Salt team have really busted their tails getting this car ready for this week. This race team just keeps getting better and better. The pit stops have been great, and Gene (Crew Chief Nead) has done an excellent job calling the races. Now, we want to go to California and had another top ten finish on our resume."
