QUOTES

Driver Mike Skinner on Chicago…

“I’m really looking forward to racing at Chicago because it is a great market for NASCAR with lots of new opportunities. I always enjoy new tracks because none of the competitors have any experience. We get to start from scratch with our notes and information, and the Cup team has usually done well at new tracks in the past. We’re hoping that will be true this weekend as well and that I can use some of the information I’ll gain by running the No. 21 Rockwell Automation Chevrolet in Saturday’s Busch race. Extra track time is always a plus for both my Rockwell Automation and my Lowe’s Chevrolets.

“I didn’t test at Chicago but my teammate Jeff Green did in the No. 30 AOL Chevy. He and Gil came back with a lot of feedback and we feel confident that it will help both teams get off to a great start and a good starting position. The crew chiefs at RCR have gotten together and know what set-ups we’ll put under these cars. It’s great to have a teammate that can test in your place when necessary. Hopefully we can carry all that information into Sunday’s race and put the Lowe’s Chevrolet up front too.”

Crew chief Gil Martin on Chicago…

“Chicago is a really nice racetrack with a beautiful facility that surrounds it. We tested with Jeff Green in the No. 30 car out there and were extremely happy with how we ran. It’s a very fast track and I think we’ll be very fast this weekend. It’ll be nice to have Mike back in the car for this weekend’s race. He has always run well the first time he visits a racetrack, and hopefully he can do the same at Chicago. I think the information we obtained will make it a good weekend for all the RCR teams.”

NOTES

Skinner Back In…Winston Cup driver Mike Skinner will be back in the No. 21 RCR Chevrolet for this weekend’s inaugural NASCAR Busch Series event at Chicagoland Speedway. His last race with Team Rock came at The Milwaukee Mile where he ran in the top-five all day and had a chance to win until he ran out of gas with three laps to go and wound up 11th.

Double Duty…Skinner will get a ton of practice time this weekend for the inaugural races at Chicagoland Speedway. Competing in both the Busch and Winston Cup events, he will participate in 10 hours and 35 minutes of practice time at the 1.5-mile oval leading up to qualifying for both races on Friday afternoon.

Gordon and The Glen…Last weekend, road course specialist Robby Gordon helped Team Rock secure their sixth top-five finish in the last 10 races. Despite a late race penalty by NASCAR, Gordon guided the No. 21 Chevy to a fifth place finish thanks to some brilliant driving passing 20 cars in the last 30 laps of the race.

Chassis No. 009…The No. 21 Rockwell Automation Racing Team will take Chassis No. 009 to the windy city this weekend for the first running of the Hills Bros Coffee 300. Primarily a concrete track car, it was last run at Dover Downs International Speedway where Skinner started 10th and finished 4th.
