Food City 250 - Mike Skinner Notes
MIKE SKINNER
Event: Food City 250 Date: August 24, 2001 QUOTES Driver Mike Skinner on Bristol… "I'm ready to get. "Michigan is gone." Crew chief Gil Martin on Bristol… "We started great and ran pretty good." NOTES Two for 2002…Richard Childress Racing announced in Michigan last weekend the driver situation for the No. 21 Rockwell Automation Racing Chevrolet for 2002. Current NASCAR Busch Series Champion Jeff Green will share duties with second year veteran Jay Sauter next season with Green running a majority of the companion events and Sauter running all the Busch stand-alone events. Recovery Road…Winston Cup stand-in Mike Skinner said he was sore after last week's NASCAR Busch Series event at Michigan International Speedway, but he does plan on competing in both racing events at Bristol Motor Speedway. He has been continuing his rehabiliation excercises throughout the week and expects to be ready to go in the Rockwell Automation Chevy on Thursday afternoon. Michigan Return…In Skinner's return in the red and white racing machine, he didn't show any evidence that he was injured at all. After an on track incident on lap 5 dropped him back to 31st, he rebounded quickly climbing 19 spots in 30 laps. He was never out of the top-10 the rest of the race and went on to finish 6th. Skinner at Bristol…Even though Skinner has not had a whole lot of time in a Busch car at the track nicknamed the Bullring, he's had plenty of time in a Winston Cup car. His best start was in and his best WC finish Chassi…Team Rock will take Chassis No. 015 to Michigan this.
