One Million Reasons to Cheer for Keller in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

BOISE, IDAHO (October 12, 2001) - Jason Keller and his Albertson's Ford fight for position on the race track every weekend, but at Phoenix International Raceway this month, Keller will get the chance to fight against breast cancer along with primary sponsor Albertson's and Yoplait Yogurt. If Keller wins the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division race at Phoenix International Raceway on October 27, 2001, Yoplait will donate an additional $1 million to the Susan G. Komen Foundation on behalf of Albertson's.

"As a driver, I have had the opportunity to donate money to different foundations, but I have never been able to do anything to the magnitude of this promotion," said Keller. "It's hard to put into words the good this money can do for families that have been affected by breast cancer. The Albertson's Racing team will do whatever we can to win at Phoenix. If I'm running second with 10 laps to go, I pity the guy in front of me."

Yoplait, a major supporter of the breast cancer cause, is currently conducting its fourth "Save Lids To Save Lives" pink lid redemption program. For each pink Yoplait lid received from consumers by December 31, 2001, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, up to $500,000. For every 10 cups bought in a single purchase in October and turned in with an Albertson's receipt, an additional $1 will be donated to the Foundation, up to $50,000.

A new element to the fundraising and awareness effort includes Jason Keller and the Albertson's Racing team. Keller's No. 57 Ford began carrying the Susan G. Komen Foundation logo on October 6 and will be on the hood of the car throughout October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Also included on the logo is 1-800-Be Aware and the traditional pink ribbon.

The inclusion of the Susan G. Komen Foundation on his race car is more than a promotion for Keller. Deborah, Jason's wife of eight years, was 16 years old when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Found through early detection, Deborah's mother has been in remission for 17 years.

Deborah and her mother know too well the stresses of coping with the disease, but they also realize that education is a key to survival.

"Back when my mother was diagnosed, there weren't very many details available regarding the disease," Deborah said. "Now, with foundations like Susan G. Komen, women always have access to the most up-to-date information. Through the foundation's awareness and education programs, women can learn about early detection and increase their chances of survival."

Knowing his wife's history, Jason looks at a win in Phoenix as a personal victory and a victory for breast cancer survivors everywhere.

"I've never been more proud to be aligned with a sponsor like Albertson's than I am right now," said Keller. "To utilize their resources the way that they do to reach out to so many people, is simply amazing."

Yoplait has seen tremendous success in its "Save Lids To Save Lives" program. From now through the end of October, special pink foil lids will adorn the tops of all 6-ounce cups of Yoplait's Original, Light and Custard Style varieties. Yoplait will also donate a guaranteed $750,000 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The Yoplait lids need to be received by December 31, 2001.

Albertson's is providing further support to the Foundation through a consumer program. For every 10 Yoplait cups bought in a single purchase between October 1 and October 31, Albertson's will donate $1 (up to $50,000) to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The lids must be turned in with an Albertson's receipt and received by December 31, 2001.
